About GVM

Gramya Vikash Mancha (GVM) is a non-profit organization working with the excluded Section of society in rural areas of Assam with a vision “To create a peaceful, Prosperous, egalitarian and exploitation free society in every village”. The organization has been working with a mission “to empower rural community, particularly underprivileged and women to take control over social institutions, thereby create a society where these people can live with dignity. This is being achieved through creating opportunities for gainful self employment, enhancing social justice, peace, progress and sense of brotherhood.”

GVM was registered under Society registration Act XXI of 1860 on the 14th day of September, 2000 in Guwahati. Besides, the organization has Registration under FCRA, 1976 and has of all legal formalities under Income tax Act, 1961. Main supporting agencies of the organization are, Sir Dorabji Tata Trust, Sir Jamsetji Tata Trust, Actionaid India, National Foundation for India, National Council of Rural Institute, Child rights and You, MoRD, NABARD, UNICEF, IGSSS, FADV, NEDFi etc. The organization has been actively working in Nalbari, Kamrup, Barpeta and Baksa district of Assam.

Mission of GVM

GVM exists to empower the rural community particularly the under privileged and women to take control over the social institutions and to improve their quality of life; thereby create a society where these people can live with dignity. This is being achieved through creating opportunities for gainful self employment, ensuring sustainable livelihood, enhancing social justice and sense of brotherhood, assisting and encouraging in their peace, progress and needs.

Objectives/ Goals:

Goal: 1: To accelerate economic growth of 15000 families by 50% of existing level.

Goal 2: To ensure safe and healthy existence for 20000 vulnerable families.

Goal 3: To promote indigenous culture, inculcate scientific temper in social culture.

Goal 4: To ensure blissful existence and development of 15000 children.

Gramya Vikash Mancha, Head office is located in village kardoitola, Near Barbari, 3 KM away from Balilecha Temple (Kali Mandir). Balilecha Temple is a landmark known to most taxi/auto drivers

Local Travel from Nalbari Town to GVM

The approximate distance from Nalbari Town to GVM Office is 10 KM. An auto stand is located near Debiram Pathsala Higher Secondary School, Nalbari from where one can reach GVM campus and auto service is available from 6 AM to 7 PM.

By Air

Nearest Airport from GVM is Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Barjhar, Guwahati. The approximate distance from Airport to GVM Office is 80 KM via Rangia. It is always advisable to take a pre-paid taxi from the Airport.

By Train

From Nalbari Station: The Approximate Distance from Nalbari Railway Station to GVM is 10 KM.

From Rangia Station: The Approximate Distance from Rangia Railway Station to GVM is 22 KM.
