Project title: “Improving smallholders” livelihoods through agriculture and allied intervention in 10 villages of Nalbari district of Assam

Project Area : Dist: Nalbari, Development Block: Barigog Banbhag Total Village: 10 nos. Hahdali, Naherbari, No.4 Balitara, Nagon, Rangafali, Barajol, Pub Barsiral, Bhadra Bangal, Bangaon, Sonkuriha.

Project duration : Four Years

Sanction Amount : 30,23,600/- ( For one Year)

Targeted beneficiary : 550 nos. form SC, ST, OBC Community

Objectives

  • To improve annual income of 1400 targeted tribal and marginalized families by Rs.20, 000/- through strengthening of agriculture and allied livelihoods.

  • To promote and strengthen 50 nos. Community Based Organizations (SHGs, cluster organization/ Producer Groups etc.) to ensure sustainability.

  • To reduce input cost by at least 40% in paddy cultivation among targeted farmers within four years.

  • To promote paddy and vegetables cultivation adopting SRI method in at least 600 acres of Agricultural land (average 0.5 acres per farmer) and ensure extension of SRI field by average 10% within four years.

  • To ensure sustainable food security and viable livelihood opportunity among 1400 targeted families within four years.

  • To empower targeted farmers for accessing ensured market and services from formal service providers within four years.

  • Khariff and Rabi planning for crop-intensification and diversification.

  • Enhancing Paddy production

  • Cultivation of vegetables at commercial scale

  • Vermi-compost/ organic farming

  • Increasing access to irrigation by installation of small irrigation machinery

  • Pig-rearing

  • Supporting hybrid activities suitable at local context

  • Forming and strengthening SHG

  • Capacity building of Community Resource Person

  • Building linkages with resource agencies
